How To Verify Yourself On The Discord Server
- If you haven’t already done so, first join the CppCon Discord Server: https://discord.gg/Qb36NkME5e. If you haven’t used Discord before, then you will need to create a Discord account.
- Once in Discord, go to the
#verification
channel and please enter!verify
as a message - At this point our Discord bot will send you a private message asking for your email address. Please use the email address that you registered to the conference with!
Once you are verified, your name in Discord will be coloured in Yellow and you will gain access to channels that are only available to conference attendees.
If you have issues verifying, please visit the #troubleshooting
Discord channel for solutions to common issues. If the suggestions still don’t work, please open a ticket in the #helpdesk
channel
Discord Customization
You can customize your discord experience to remove channels you do not wish to follow, or reduce noise during the event.
Browse / Customize Channels
The ‘Browse Channels’ feature allows you to customize the channels you have immediately visible to you in the server channel list.
To configure the channels you have access to, select the ‘Browse Channels’ option from above the channel list in the Discord server. This will take you to the configuration page where you can select which channels should be visible to you.
You can customize channels individually, or by group/category
- Check the box next to a channel or category to include it in your list of channels.
- Uncheck a channel or category to remove the channel or section from your channel list.
Muting Channels & Categories
If you wish to keep a channel visible, but do not wish to receive notifications from it, you can choose to mute individual channels or categories. A muted channel will not send notifications for new messages (unless you are specifically mentioned), but will still visually show new messages when viewing the channel in the channel list (the channel will be bold to indicate new messages)
